AI visibility checklist for e-commerce

The AI visibility of an e-commerce depends on product, context and trust. The mechanism needs to understand what is sold, who it is for, how much it costs, whether it is available and what conditions apply. Incomplete or conflicting catalog reduces the store's usefulness as a source.

Catalog and product pages

  • Does each product have a specific name, its own description, brand, category and identifier?
  • Price, availability, variation and condition appear in the HTML?
  • Do images have quality and descriptive alt text?
  • Filter and variation URLs have coherent canonical?
  • Do removed products use appropriate redirection or status?

Structured data and feeds

  • Do Product, Offer, reviews and breadcrumbs match the visible content?
  • Are GTIN, SKU, brand, price and inventory consistent across website and feed?
  • Are Merchant Center and business profiles up to date?

Google recommends keeping Merchant Center, Business Profile and structured data aligned, but does not require special schema for AI Overviews or AI Mode.

Decision content

  • Guides explain how to choose, compare, size and use the product?
  • Frequently asked questions answer real customer service questions?
  • Are delivery, exchange, warranty and payment policies easy to find?
  • Do comparisons make criteria and limitations clear?

Avoid generating nearly identical descriptions at scale. Commoditized content increases duplication and doesn't help the buyer decide.

Trust

  • Are reviews authentic, current and correctly attributed?
  • Are company, contact, CNPJ, service and policies visible?
  • Do relevant manufacturers, marketplaces or vehicles confirm the entity and products?

Access and update

  • Robots, CDN and JavaScript allow crawling essential content?
  • Sitemap contains only canonical and indexable URLs?
  • Are stock and prices updated frequently?
  • OAI-SearchBot and Bingbot receive the correct public version?

Metrics

Test queries by problem, category, product, comparison, and occasion. Track page citations, brand mentions, price and availability accuracy, referrals and conversions. Compare with competitors using the same question catalogue.

The goal is not to make the AI repeat the feed. It’s about offering reliable data and useful content so that the store can participate in journeys of discovery and choice. See also structured data and GEO.
