How to turn insider knowledge into quotable content
Internal knowledge becomes quotable content when it stops depending on a person's memory and starts having a question, evidence, context and authorship. The job is not to publish internal documents. It's about extracting useful learning without exposing clients, secrets or personal information.
Create a font inventory
Map interviews with experts, tickets, sales calls, projects, experiments, dashboards, documentation and customer questions. For each source, define owner, sensitivity, period and usage permission.
Choose a public question
Transform the material into a question that the market really needs to answer. “What We Learned” is broad. “Which errors increased implementation time in 12 projects and how were they detected?” guides collection and analysis.
Structure the evidence
Record sample, criteria, context and limitations. Anonymize data and obtain approval when a customer can be identified. Don't publish internal numbers just because they look strong. They need to be truthful, understandable and authoritative.
Interview those who perform
The expert reveals exceptions that the document does not show. Record or write down reasoning, examples, and decisions. Then, validate the draft with the person. Authorship can be individual or institutional, as long as responsibility is clear.
Produce a main asset
Publish a research, method, case, benchmark or guide with evidence. Create derivative content that points to the main source, without repeating everything. This facilitates attribution and maintains a canonical version.
Include sources and update
Link external references, date results and indicate when to review. Content about products, markets or regulations gets old. An update process protects citability.
Google recommends original and specialized content for traditional and generative search. A company's advantage is not in producing more text, but in publishing knowledge that other sources have not yet organized.
Measure reuse
Track links, quotes, business questions, team usage, and presence in AI responses. These signals show which assets have actually become a reference.
