Integrating Google Tag Manager

Prerequisites

To follow this guide along, you should:

KAEO base pixel

  1. Get your KAEO snippet from your 'Project Settings'.

  2. Access your Google Tag Manager dashboard and navigate to the desired account/container that is integrated with the website you want to add KAEO tracking to

  3. Click to add a new tag:


  4. On the page to configure a new tag, add your KAEO snippet as a 'Custom HTML Tag' under 'Tag Configuration'

  5. For the trigger, select the default "All Pages" trigger and then click 'Save' on the top right corner of the drawer

  6. Back on the main dashboard, click 'Submit' to update your website with the new KAEO tag

  7. You're done! KAEO is now configured for your website.

To confirm KAEO is configured correctly, visit your website and then check if the events from your session appear in KAEO. Note that this may take a few minutes.

Subscribe to events

To collect and send events from GTM to KAEO you must to create a new tag and trigger. Let's create some examples.

Leads

  1. Access your Google Tag Manager dashboard and navigate to the desired account/container that is integrated with the website you want to add KAEO tracking to

  2. Click to add a new tag

  3. Give a name to tag like 'Lead'

  4. On the page to configure a new tag as a 'Custom HTML Tag' under 'Tag Configuration'

  5. Paste the following snippet:

  1. Under advanced settings, click on 'Tag sequence' and enable 'Fire a tag before'

  2. Select KAEO base pixel created early

  3. Now, click on 'Trigger' and then click on the plus icon in the top right corner to add a new trigger

  4. Give a name to the new trigger, such as 'formSubmit'

  5. Click on 'Choose a trigger' and select 'Form Submit' under 'User engagement'

  6. Click on 'Save' in the top right corner to save the new trigger.

  7. Next, click on 'Save' again to save the new tag.

  8. Click on the 'View' button to test the setup. Paste your URL and try to submit a form.

  9. If everything works as expected, you're done! Just return to GTM and click on 'Submit' to publish your changes.

Note: If you have a custom event for "Lead" or any other event, simply select it in the "Choose Trigger".
