Errors that prevent AI engines from understanding a company

AI engines struggle to understand a company when access, identity and evidence contradict each other. The problem is rarely in a single tag. It arises from the sum of technical blocks, vague pages and different information spread across the web.

Block the wrong crawler

Generic rules in robots.txt, WAF or CDN may prevent Googlebot, Bingbot or OAI-SearchBot. Test the response delivered to each agent. Remember that blocking tracking and preventing indexing are different controls; the crawler needs to access a noindex meta to read it.

Hide essential content

If the name, product, price or explanation only appears after interaction, login or unstable JavaScript, the recovery loses context. Keep important facts in accessible text and consistent HTML.

Mix categories

Phrases like “innovative solutions to transform businesses” do not define a product, audience or problem. Use specific language. Separate offers when intent and buyer change, but avoid creating nearly identical pages.

Have conflicting versions

Website, business profile, directory and press may show different names, addresses, portfolio and numbers. Choose canonical sources, update profiles, and date statements that change.

Publish commoditized content

Texts generated from the same summaries do not add evidence. Google recommends non-commoditized, experience-led content over scaled pages to capture search variation.

Use markup as makeup

Structured data that doesn't match the text creates inconsistency. llms.txt does not correct indexing and is ignored by Google Search as a special signal. First fix the page that people and crawlers actually use.

Do not show authorship or source

Data without method and opinions without responsible are difficult to verify. Identify author, scope, date and references when relevant.

Measure a response as truth

Generative results vary. An isolated test can lead to erroneous changes. Use sets of prompts, repetitions and platform data.

Correction starts with the chain: access, canonical, entity, content, evidence, authority and measurement. The GEO audit helps to locate at which stage understanding is lost.
